Rashmona Foundation Ramadan Food Assistance Program
Rashmona Foundation Ramadan Food Assistance Program
Similarly to the Iftar distribution program, Rashmona’s food assistance program reaches out to the underprivileged families residing in vulnerable areas, such as road sides and trains stations, and provides them with nourishing food to last throughout the month. Staple foods such as rice, lentils and vegetables are provided to these families, to not only ensure Iftar and Suhoor meals, but also regular meals for those members of the family that are not fasting. The combined aims of the two Ramadan programs are as follows:
- Targeting those areas of the city that have a higher density of underprivileged population: By pinpointing those locations where the underprivileged population often seeks refuge, ( such as bus stops and footpaths ) we intend to reach out to those who often fall through the gaps of “traditional” support systems.
- Focusing on addressing and eradicating food insecurity, especially of marginalised and underprivileged communities: By focusing on areas with a higher percentage ofm individuals facing food scarcity, our programs intend to address immediate hunger concerns through provision of nutritious meals regularly.
- Sending out a positive message: By extending a helping hand to those who need it, we try to create an environment of support and acceptance for all social groups of the country. Our activities aim to promote feelings of inclusivity and unity to members of all communities and to encourage all members of our society to participate in this cause.
- Sharing the joy of Ramadan: Our programs aim to provide Ramadan essentials to the poverty-stricken population, not only to help out those who face challenges keeping up with the rising prices of essentials during the festive month, but also to enable these people to observe Ramadan festivities like the rest of us. Besides, spreading the cheer of Ramadan festivities is exactly what the holy month is about!
